Job summary

Crane Company is seeking a Material Handler to move materials between work cells and finishing areas in Marion, NC. You will pick up and deliver replenishment parts, inspect and track inventory, and use the computer system to verify availability.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, ability to lift up to 50 lbs (team lift for heavier items), and forklift certification. Prior forklift experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance; team lift for heavier items.
  • Must be certified forklift operator.
  • Basic math skills including fractions/decimals for material calculations.
  • Must read and interpret manufacturing orders and material requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up and deliver materials/parts to and from work cells and finishing areas.
  • Complete material requests to replenish parts and materials for production.
  • Receive, issue, store, and inspect replenishment parts and materials.
  • Use computer system to query inventory and track availability.
  • Perform physical inventories and cycle counts.

Job description

Position Summary

Pick up and deliver materials/parts to and from work cells to finishing areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completes Material Request to replenish parts and materials for production.
  • Receives, issues, stores, and inspects material and parts that have been identified as replenishment.
  • Pick‑up and delivers replenishment parts to the designated work area(s).
  • Pick‑up and delivers the order card(s) to the appropriate planner as noted on the card.
  • Uses computer system and PC to make inquiries and track availability of inventory.
  • Maintains the Wait‑Delivery Board and notify the appropriate department supervisor of material and/or parts that are not received on the expected day.
  • Performs physical inventories and cycle counts.
  • Performs data entry functions to key in move ticket information.
  • Closes work orders.
  • Uses/operates miscellaneous material handling equipment (dollies, pallet jack, forklift) to move materials.
  • Other duties as needed and directed by the supervisor.
Essential Qualifications / Experience
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance; any parts weighing over 50 lbs requires a team lift.
  • Must be certified forklift operator.
  • Must have basic math skills including addition/subtraction of fractions and decimal values for determining material, manufacturing, and inspection requirements.
  • Must have ability to use/operate miscellaneous material handling equipment.
  • Must have basic reading/writing ability to read and interpret manufacturing orders and material requirements as well as to report production.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience
  • Forklift experience within a manufacturing environment.
Hazardous Waste Handler
  • Awareness and satellite accumulation (including but not limited to) caps, labelling, dating.
  • Periodically removing satellite waste containers and delivering to less than central accumulation area.
  • Annual RCRA Training including Emergency Coordinator (secondary) refresher, Contingency Plan training, RCR hazardous waste training.
