Job summary

Community Impact is seeking a hands-on Material Handler in Pflugerville, TX. You will move supplies, set up equipment, and keep a clean, safe work area.

Responsibilities include lifting up to 50 pounds, operating basic machinery, performing housekeeping, and assisting with routine maintenance. Schedule is 1st shift, 10-30 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Housekeeping: sweep, mop, wipe, vacuum floors and machinery.
• Perform routine maintenance such as clearing jams and restarting machines.
• Maintain knowledge of quality control procedures.
• Inspect samples to identify defects or errors.
• Ensure area readiness and safety compliance.

Owners John and Jennifer Garrett launched the first edition of Community Impact Newspaper in 2005 with three full-time employees covering Round Rock and Pflugerville. Now, Community Impact Newspaper distributes hyperlocal news and information to millions of local residents and business owners each day online and monthly by mail. Community Impact Newspaper is invested in the communities we serve and has dedicated reporters in each community who attend city council and school board meetings. We are among the first to report on local business, transportation, education, and health care. Our staff serve on chamber boards, volunteer with nonprofits, and are involved in our communities to make them better places to live and work. Our mission is to build communities of informed citizens and thriving businesses through the collaboration of a passionate team.

THE POSITION

We are seeking a hands-on, hard-working, detail-oriented professional to join our team making a difference in our community. The Material Handler ensures Community Impact Printing’s success by moving supplies, setting up equipment, and ensuring a clean, safe, and orderly environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lift, move, and stack materials by hand and by use of hand-jacks, forklifts, clamp-lifts, etc.


• Perform housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, mopping, wiping, and vacuuming oil, ink, paper and dust from floors, walls and machinery


• Perform routine maintenance such as clearing jams and restarting machines


• Maintain knowledge of quality control procedures


• Collect and inspect random samples to identify defects or errors


• Ensure area readiness

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time


• Ability to read and interpret labels and/or other printed materials


• Ability to work occasional weekends or variable shifts based on business needs


• Available to work 10-30 hours per week, as needed, during 1st shift hours (6 AM - 2:30 PM, M-F)

Preferred qualifications

• 1 or more years of experience in a printing/manufacturing environment


• Basic computer skills
