Job summary

Auer Steel & Heating Supply Company is hiring a Material Handler/Back Up Non-CDL Route Driver for our West Fargo, ND location. The role mixes warehouse picking with in-town deliveries, with a 7:30 am to 4:00 pm schedule.

Ideal candidates are organized, reliable, and detail-oriented with a driving background and DOT readiness. Responsibilities include dispatch checks, loading, driving to customers, and assisting with returns and stock control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least one year of verifiable delivery driving experience.
• Good driving record and DOT requirements applicable.
• Ability to use hand truck, forklift, dolly, pallet jack, etc.

Responsibilities

• Check and confirm dispatch orders and materials for delivery.
• Load for orderly dispatch and operate truck for pickups and deliveries.
• Pull orders and load them; maintain clean work area and stockroom.
• Fill in for out-of-town drivers on PTO when needed.

Job description

We are currently hiring a Material Handler/ Back Up Non-CDL Route Driver to work in our West Fargo, ND location. This position is best suited for an organized, responsible, self‑motivated and detail‑oriented individual who is looking for a career within a well‑established company.

The individual will handle in‑town deliveries Monday through Friday. 70% of the time the individual would be in the warehouse picking orders, 30% of the time delivering orders to customers. The position is from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm daily.

What does this position do?

The main responsibilities for this role include:

• Check and confirm dispatch orders and materials for delivery.
• Load for orderly dispatch.
• Operate truck to pick up and deliver products, materials, supplies, equipment, etc.
• Pick up items for return with proper paperwork.
• Obtain appropriate signatures on shipping slips and sign for materials picked up.
• Pull tickets and pick orders.
• Load orders.
• Maintain clean work area.
• Put stock away.
• Checks returns.
• Uses scanners to check stock items and locate inventory discrepancies.
• Fill in for out‑of‑town delivery drivers while on PTO.
• Other tasks as assigned.

What is required?

This position is best suited for an individual with:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least one year of verifiable delivery driving experience.
• Medical certificate required.
• Good driving record required. Applicants must also meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
• Good understanding of traffic rules and regulations; roads, freeways and local layout. Ability to use hand truck, forklift, dolly, pallet jack, etc.
