Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Material Handler to move and manage materials within our plant and yard. You will read work orders, load and unload materials, secure items for transit, and keep precise records while ensuring safety is a top priority. The role requires basic assembly experience, mechanical aptitude, and strong teamwork in a manufacturing setting.

Physical work includes lifting up to 50 pounds, operating lift trucks, and following detailed procedures. The entry hourly rate starts at $22.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED.
• 1+ years of assembly experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
• Ability to use tools and equipment needed to perform assembly operations.
• Good listening and communication skills.
• Able to work well with others and to be a good team player.

Responsibilities

• Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
• Opens and closes containers; loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, and shelves by hand.
• Loads materials into vehicles and secures them to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
• Conveys materials from storage or work sites to the designated area.
• Secures materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
• Counts, weighs, and records units moved or handled for stock requisition or Kanban.
• Attaches tags or labels to materials or marks information containers.
• Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands.
• Removes samples of materials and takes them to the laboratory for analysis.
• Drives lift trucks, electric carts, and other equipment; performs basic maintenance.
• Assembles crates or boxes for products such as machines or vehicles.
• Cleans work area, spills, and equipment as required.
• Wraps and crates various units.
• Other duties may be assigned.
