Job summary

Specialty Building Products is seeking a Material Handler to join our team in a mid shift (3pm - 12am). Pay rate is $19/hr. Responsibilities include operating forklifts, inspecting lumber, stocking and loading materials, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and prior lumber yard or warehouse experience. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, basic math, and computer literacy are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prior lumber yard/warehouse or material handling experience preferred.
• Lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.
• Forklift, table saws and chainsaws operation skills required.
• Basic math and analytical skills; computer literacy with MS Word/Excel/Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Safely pick up, move, stack, and load lumber and materials using forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Inspect lumber for defects, sort by grade/size, and stack for shipping.
• Record incoming/outgoing quantities and maintain stock records.
• Verify deliveries match purchase orders and ensure quality standards.
• Operate and maintain forklifts, pallet jacks, and yard equipment; follow maintenance logs.
• Keep yards and storage areas clean, organized, and hazard-free.
• Follow safety procedures and wear PPE; report hazards.
• Coordinate with truck drivers and warehouse staff for smooth operations.
