• Coordinate PFEP efforts with the operations team and manage material movement coverage.
• Perform ongoing equipment checks and report needed repairs; assist with loading/unloading materials.
• Monitor quality checks on parts and ensure safety, cost, and productivity goals are met.

Job description

Exmark is now hiring a Material Handler Lead on 2nd shift.

MAJOR FUNCTION

Performs and completes all material handling lead duties and responsibilities including receipt of deliveries, movement of parts, finished goods, and working closely with the inventory control team to validate inventory movement and address any issues.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, and active participation in all 5S efforts and initiatives
• Act as a first point of contact for other material handlers in addressing questions regarding day to day activities and responsibilities
• Perform hands on assessments for new material handlers and ensure ongoing training for existing team members is up to date
• Collaborate with the inventory control team to determine when product is missing in a delivery; assist to identify changes to process and seek improvements where feasible
• Identify and coordinate the removal of obsolete parts/inventory
• Partner with operations team to assist with implementation and maintenance of Plan For Every Part (PFEP) efforts
• Collect/disseminate trailer arrival information to materials team on an as needed basis
• Maintains inventory by identifying and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory with onboard computer terminal
• Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections; noting any repairs needed; informing maintenance team of such
• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, racks, and shelves by hand or with lifting device
• Perform visual check on parts to ensure quality standards are met
• Monitor and turn in cards to Weld for plated materials when needed
• Collect and put out assembly line Tugger cart sequence cards
• Operates electric or pneumatic hoist to set heavier painted parts on carts in advance of assembly
• Strives to meet all established safety, quality, cost, and productivity standards
• Willingly performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Ensure personnel are assigned adequately to provide necessary coverage for material movement and adjust as needed

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Ability to follow standard work and procedures
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) coupled with an ability to lead others
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
• Ability to lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly; 25 pounds frequently; 40 pounds occasionally
