Material Handler & Industrial Cleaning Technicians - Job Overview

Tectum, a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries and one of eleven North American plants, is seeking reliable Material Handlers & Industrial Cleaning Technicians to join our 1st (7am-3pm) and 2nd (3pm-11pm) shift teams. With over 70 years of experience, Tectum produces wall, roof, and ceiling tiles. We currently employ approximately 100 staff involved in manufacturing and shipping our Tectum products.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate pride in their work and are interested in a manufacturing career. Job responsibilities include:

  • Working safely in a manufacturing environment, adhering to all company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Ensuring product quality and output standards are met and improved.
  • Participating in team efforts, exceeding goals, and focusing on customer satisfaction.
  • Performing heavy-duty tasks such as removing and stacking finished boards, assembly, and packaging.
  • Attending required training, including becoming a certified forklift driver.
  • Maintaining good housekeeping and adhering to 5S standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing settings preferred but not required.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to work day shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to follow instructions, willingness to learn, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.

Work Environment:

This role operates in a manufacturing setting with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, uneven surfaces, loud noises, and dusty conditions. Basic PPE like safety glasses, earplugs, and steel-toe or composite boots is required. Additional PPE and training will be provided as needed.

Physical Demands:

The job requires talking, hearing, standing, walking, handling, reaching, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 75 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
