Material Handler
A well-established automotive parts manufacturing company in Morristown, TN is looking for full-time Material Handlerto join their team. As a Machine Operator, you will be working for a premier supplier of driveline components and pumps to major automotive brands like General Motors, BMW, Toyota, and Nissan.
Job Responsibilities
- Supplies components to the manufacturing areas and support departments that are needed to produce high quality finished goods that meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Responsible for delivering components using tugger and/or forklift, stretch wrapping skids of parts, operating cardboard baler/compactor, charging and/or changing batteries, and performing box washer duties.
Qualifications
- HSD or GED required
- Perform regular and punctual attendance
- Work flexibly in any area of the operation and any shift as needed
- Follow instructions from team leaders, supervisors, and managers in English
- Follow established standard work procedures for each operation to ensure quality parts production
- Inspect safety equipment before production start-up and observe machine operation for defects or malfunctions
- Measure workpiece dimensions to verify accuracy
- Conduct minor preventative maintenance such as oiling machines and cleaning equipment and work areas
- Follow procedures for non-conforming material and notify team leaders accordingly
- Maintain a positive attitude in communication and conduct
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment without direct supervision
- Achieve forklift and tugger certifications and operate proficiently as required by business demands
- Ability to read or listen & comprehend and write & present information in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions. Ability to deal withproblems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- The employee is required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach above, below and at shoulder level, move repetitively to left and right, grasp, use fine finger dexterity, talk and hear.
- The employee must lift 20 lbs. repetitively and occasionally up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay is $19.63 with $1 premium for off shifts; Multiple shifts available
- Overtime may be required; 8 or 10 hour shift
