Purpose

Under direct supervision, handles and maintains the flow of materials and products on the premises according to established guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Physically handles materials used in construction to ensure optimal movement; lifts, carries, and stacks items as needed.
2. Operates motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment, some requiring specialized training.
3. Attends training sessions from foremen or senior handlers to increase work process knowledge.
4. Follows all safety procedures and attends safety meetings; may suggest safety improvements.
5. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED. This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.

Competencies

• Knowledge and ability to operate motorized and non-motorized handling equipment
• Manual dexterity
• Knowledge of safety procedures during material handling
• Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions

Work Environment / Physical Activity

The physical demands include working in a production environment with temperature variations, chemicals, noise, and dust. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally. Tasks may involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling.
