Job summary

Sonoco in Gastonia, NC is seeking a Material Handler I to support forklift driving and material handling of raw and finished goods in the tube and core division. The role reports to the Department Supervisor and requires safe, efficient performance and strong attendance in a fast-paced environment.

The position offers the possibility of overtime and requires good communication skills, the ability to read manufacturing instructions, and independent task management.

Qualifications

• Forklift experience is required.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate a stand-up forklift safely and efficiently.
• Distribute finished goods and raw materials to appropriate stations.
• Verify tags/labels for accuracy and maintain paperwork.
• Load/unload trucks and manage related documents.
• Maintain and organize warehouse stock and inventory counts.
• Keep a clean, safe, and organized work area.
