Job summary

Progress Rail in Boaz, Alabama seeks a dedicated Material Handler to move material using forklifts and mobile equipment as part of bearing component reconditioning per AAR/customer requirements.

You will maintain inventory, prepare shipments, and document processes while following strict safety rules and quality standards. Conditioning and painting tasks may be involved, with opportunities to train peers on safe operation.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience or vocational/technical training.
• Basic PC knowledge for data entry.
• Self-starter, able to work with little supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Forklift, pallet jack, mobile equipment and/or crane experience.
• Heavy Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Problem solving ability and applying reasoning for resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proper parts inventory maintenance and documentation.
• Properly prepare orders for shipment.
• Create shipping and receiving documentation (shop specific).
• Communicate and document processing of incoming/outgoing materials clearly and accurately.
• Operate industrial forklift, pallet jack, mobile equipment and/or overhead cranes.
• Paint and band finished product.
• Follow work instructions, standards and QWI’s safely; perform PM inspections on machinery.
• Train other employees on safe and efficient operation of mobile equipment.
