Job summary

Varstaff Staffing is seeking a Material Handler I - D for our Merritt Island, FL location. You will manage incoming shipments, inventory records, and operate heavy PIT equipment to support fulfillment operations.

Responsibilities include unloading, quality inspections, data entry into inventory systems, and packaging/staging to prevent loss. Shift D runs Fri–Sun, 4:00 PM–4:00 AM, with 1-week training on A Shift.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Fulfillment Center Operations, specifically within receiving and inventory functions.
• Experience counting inventory, receiving, packing, put-away, picking/kitting, or shipping.
• Experience operating heavy PIT equipment in a material handling environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced setting with focus on continuous improvement and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Unload shipments, visually inspect against SOPs, and perform quality checks.
• Document receipts, navigate inventory software, input data accurately, and conduct storage auditing.
• Package, wrap, label, store materials, and stage them to prevent loss or damage.
• Maintain safety practices and PPE compliance across all shifts.

About the Job: In this role, you will play a crucial part in fulfillment center operations at our location in Merritt Island, FL. You will handle incoming shipments, manage inventory, operate heavy material-handling equipment, and maintain accurate records within our inventory management system. As a key member of the team, you will drive continuous improvement by identifying operational roadblocks, supporting root-cause analysis, and ensuring top-tier quality control and safety standards across all workflow stages.

Shift: D Shift | Friday – Sunday, 4:00 PM – 4:00 AM (1-week training on A Shift)

What We’re Looking For Education & Experience

2+ years of experience in Fulfillment Center Operations, specifically within receiving and inventory functions.

Experience in inventory counting, receiving, packing, put-away, picking/kitting, or shipping.

Experience operating heavy equipment (PIT) in a material handling environment.

Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment with a strong focus on continuous improvement and problem‑solving.

Must-Have Skills

Equipment Operation: Hands‑on experience and proficiency in operating heavy machinery/PIT equipment, including forklifts, electronic pallet jacks (EPJs), reach‑trucks, and turret‑trucks.

Receiving & Quality Control: Ability to unload shipments, visually inspect incoming packages against standard operating procedures (SOPs), and perform required quality control checks.

Inventory Management & Data Entry: Ability to systematically document receipts, navigate inventory management software, input data accurately, and conduct storage auditing.

Packaging & Staging: Skills in selecting proper packaging materials, wrapping/storing parts, labeling, and staging materials to prevent loss or damage.

Physical & Safety Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and a strict commitment to workplace safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.

Nice-to-Have Skills (Preferred)

Ability to derive inventory requirements directly from Bills of Material (BOM).

Advanced experience with root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving tools in a manufacturing or fulfillment workflow.
