Job summary

Apogee Enterprises, Inc. seeks a Material Handler I to support inventory control and order fulfillment in a manufacturing setting. You will work within our metal fabrication facilities to receive, pick, pack and ship product, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

The role emphasizes reading blueprints, using basic measurement tools, and operating common material-handling equipment, with safety as a top priority. Training and cross-training across Material Handler roles are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate basic material handling equipment (pallet jacks, hand trucks).
• Ability to read and interpret measuring devices (tape measures).
• Ability to use hand tools (hammer, wrench, level).
• Ability to follow blueprints and work instructions/SOPs.
• Basic computer/data-entry proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inventory handling, including cycle counting and stock rotation.
• Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track and report inventory.
• Resolve discrepancies in orders or inventory.
• Read and interpret work instructions and SOPs.
• Perform basic data-entry tasks on a computer.
• Maintain organization and space utilization; ensure safety during material handling.

Job Overview

Material Handler I assists in accurately handling inventory according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Materials team works together to receive, pick, pack, and ship product to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to manage inventory, including cycle counting and stock rotation.
• Understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking and reporting inventory.
• Basic problem-solving skills for handling discrepancies in orders or inventory.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions.
• Perform basic computer functions related to data entry.
• Strong organizational skills for efficient space utilization and inventory management.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely.
• Must be cross-trained and able to support all Material Handler I roles.
