Job Title: Material Handler

Shift: Monday – Friday 7:00 am–3:30 pm

Location: Southern Pines, NC (On‑site)

Job Overview

The Material Handler ensures materials are supplied where and when they are needed, keeping workstations fully stocked and contributing to overall productivity.

Responsibilities

• Receives, ships, loads, and unloads materials/parts from suppliers or carriers; materials may be unloaded from trucks, pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, with forklift, or other material handling device.
• Uses computer and/or barcode scanner to identify stock locations and retrieve parts.
• Visually inspects incoming pieces/parts for compliance and obvious damage and informs Quality if necessary.
• Moves material/parts from warehouse or receiving area to designated line or stock locations, using barcode scanner and/or computers.
• Reads work order or follows oral instructions to determine materials to be transferred; informs inventory control to update the computer system when necessary (e.g., quantity mismatch, mixed parts, wrong labels).
• Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials received, moved, or shipped; reports inconsistencies to inventory control.
• Operates forklift, hand truck, or other material handling equipment to assist in loading or moving material; removes debris from shelves throughout the warehouse.
• Receives work orders from planners; picks parts for machine shop, assembly areas, staging for kits, and spare part sales orders using barcode scanner and/or computer.
• Follows all ISO procedures and safety rules, including wearing personal safety equipment, and demonstrates excellence in all duties assigned.

Requirements

• 1+ year of experience in manufacturing or distribution industry.

Core Competencies

• Ability to effectively share information about job duties in one‑on‑one and small group situations with supervisors, customers, clients, and other employees.
• Ability to pass the Powered Industrial Vehicle license (e.g., forklift certification).

Preferences

• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of inventory processes.
• Process‑driven and systematic in completing work.
• Problem‑solving ability.

Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements

• This position is 100 % onsite at our Southern Pines, North Carolina facility.
• Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally with a hoist for objects over 40 pounds.
• Standing: Required for up to three hours at a time.
• Stooping: Required to lift objects off pallets.
• Hand dexterity: Must work with hand tools, screws and gauges, and operate buttons on controls.
• Carrying: Capable of carrying 40 pounds for a distance of up to 25 feet.
