Position Overview:

As a Material Handler I, in our Final Assembly Locomotive department, you will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high energy warehouse environment providing all material to production departments for manufacturing the best rail vehicles in the world.

What your day will look like:

  1. Specific area or responsibility may include receiving, put away, picking, kitting, or delivery of material to production.
  2. Ensure transactional accuracy for all material movements - i.e. ensure the correct quantity of material is moved to the specified location, and MRP system transactions are completed correctly.
  3. Ensure all material is properly identified with appropriate labels and part numbers.
  4. Carefully handle material to prevent any damage during handling in the warehouse or delivery to production. Immediately notify supervisor of any quality or delivery issues.
  5. Use of powered industrial vehicles in the movement of material. Certification for use of some tools and equipment may be required, such as crane, forklift, order picker, scissor lift, and fall protection equipment.
  6. Meet production schedule for material delivery to production.
  7. Explain warehouse procedures and processes to fellow workers.
  8. Follow all safety requirements, including use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  9. Contribute to and maintain conditions that ensure a healthy and safe work environment.

What will make you successful in this role:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. 2 years previous experience in a warehouse environment.
  3. Basic English skills - ability to read and understand written instructions and effectively communicate verbally.
  4. Previous experience with industrial vehicles such as crane, forklift, order picker, scissor lift, and fall protection equipment.

We would be impressed if you have:

  1. Warehouse experience in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Powered Industrial Vehicle certification (forklift, pallet jack, etc.).

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

This position is located in Sacramento, CA. The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.00/hour plus 10% shift differential for 2nd shift. This is a second shift position (2pm to 10:30pm). The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
