Job summary

Laitram Machine Shop in New Orleans, LA seeks a Material Handler to support our Material Management department. The role involves moving material with a forklift, organizing inventory, and ensuring smooth shop operations to meet production needs.

Responsibilities include receiving, put-away, shipping and receiving support, and recycling/disposal coordination. Candidates should be self-motivated, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with proficiency in Excel and standard software tools.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and move 45 lbs.
• Proficiency in standard software packages (Excel, MS Office) and clear written/verbal communication.
• Self-managed and able to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Move material inside and outside of the Machine Shop using a forklift.
• Put away received material to assigned locations.
• Assist with deliveries for shipping and receiving, may include drop-offs or pickups.
• Assist with material recycling and logistics for pickup.
• Coordinate coolant disposal and recycling when possible.
• Assist with daily shipping and receiving activities when necessary.
