Job summary

Sofidel America of Duluth is seeking a Materials Handler/Forklift Operator to support mill production, load and unload raw materials, and move finished products using powered industrial trucks. This is a long-term, non-exempt role on a 12-hour day/night rotating schedule.

The ideal candidate will hold a high school diploma or equivalent, forklift certification, basic math skills, and strong communication. Training is provided; safety and teamwork are emphasized in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year of warehouse experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid forklift certification.
• Basic mathematics knowledge and its applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with other employees and maintain respectful interactions.
• Correct daily forklift inspections at shift start.
• Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and related computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain forklift driving certificate for Single Forks, Double-Wide, Box-Clamp, and Roll-Clamp.
• Conduct regular forklift inspections per the required instruction list. Complete mandatory logs and documents.
• Charge batteries and change propane cylinders.
• Operate stretch wrap machine and understand the HU label process.
• Monitor raw materials, finished goods, and waste products at all lines and deliver and remove them in a safe and timely manner.
• Band parent rolls cores and puts them in the correct recycling or customer return trailers.
• Service and support all Machine employee requests.
• Operate balers for towels and broken tissue, cardboard, and poly.
• Operate trash compactors for waste disposal.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by manually picking up waste paper and other materials.
• Work the 12-hour rotating shift requirement.
• Provide on-the-job training to new employees as needed.
• Other responsibilities may include maintaining workflow and quality, notifying supervision of issues, and participating in meetings.
