Job Summary

The Material Handler is responsible for storing, moving, handling, and distributing materials. They take materials from one location to another and may be involved in extracting and loading materials for transportation. The work environment is highly structured to minimize safety risks, with detailed planning and safety considerations before each job. Formal education is not required, but extensive on-the-job training is provided. A commercial driver's license (CDL) may be needed.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in the steel industry or galvanizing is a plus.
Ability to obtain forklift and overhead crane certification and operate these machines. (Forklift experience required)

Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily operations and safety checks on forklifts.
• Identify raw materials, in-process, or finished products, and verify with schedules.
• Safely move materials to designated areas.
• Report inconsistencies or issues to supervisors.
• Manage and document material storage, staging, and issuance.
• Support fabrication and assembly tasks as needed.
• Handle packaging, labeling, and shipping preparations.
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean work area per 5S standards.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and yard trucks to transport materials.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and report shortages or overages.

Working Conditions

Primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, with exposure to noise, dust, odors, and chemicals. Must have good hand-eye coordination and motor skills. The environment promotes a positive, professional culture aimed at long-term employment.

Job Details

Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00/hour
Hours: 40-50 per week
Schedule: 10-hour and 8-hour day shifts, Monday to Friday, with weekends as needed
