Job Purpose: To operate forklifts safely and efficiently; handle all freight inbound or outbound properly and orderly; maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; load/unload RJW trucks/trailers and outside carriers safely and using proper procedures; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly; responsible for properly storing stock in the warehouse; perform duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving handling activities. Work from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers. Maintain forklift safety at all times following all safety policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient operation of the warehouse.
  • Ability to operate sit-down forklift and/or EPJs.
  • General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • Load and unload RJW trucks/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers' equipment.
  • Flexible to work 10 to 12 hours shifts when necessary and not afraid of heights.
  • Pick and move stock from 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times.
  • Ensure all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly.
  • Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
  • Process outbound cross-dock freight as necessary.
  • Oversee storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the storage racks.
  • Work from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers.
  • Record and verify the accuracy of the shipments against the paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments/deliveries.
  • Ensure all documentation and paperwork is properly completed.
  • Operate forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures.
    • This includes wearing seatbelts at all times when operating the forklift.
  • Complete daily forklift maintenance inspections.
  • Handle all customer products properly and orderly.
  • Check deliveries for poor packing, general condition of materials, and free of damage. Alert Warehouse Supervisor of any problems, taking pictures if necessary.
  • Report all accidents/incidents, damage of stock, or building damage to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
  • Spot trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment for the day.
  • Maintain access to dock doors both inside and outside the facility keeping them free of debris or snow.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision.
  • General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Attention to detail and quality a must.
  • Good communication, clear and concise, problem resolution, and people skills.
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed, and supplying coverage to other shifts.
  • Major experience on sit-down forklifts/EPJs.
  • Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
  • Experience in cross-docking freight process.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse.

Qualifications:

  • 3-6 months of forklift driving experience in a warehouse using sit-down forklifts and Electric Pallet Jacks.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED).
