Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator in Richmond, VA to join our wholesale distribution team. The role emphasizes safe, efficient handling of building materials and paperwork for shipping, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a competitive benefits package.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of forklift/warehouse experience, the ability to read orders, and the physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely operate a forklift to transport products.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders and safety materials.
• Capable of lifting up to 75 lbs and working independently under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars with minimal damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.

The fixed rate is $20.75 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations. BlueLinx also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health care, dental, vision, life and disability insurance starting the first day of the month, 15 days of paid time off that start accruing your first day, and 8 paid holidays per year.
