Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation in Monroe, LA is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join a team focused on safety and quality service. The role offers a fixed wage of $18.08 per hour with a Monday–Friday schedule and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, life insurance, PTO and paid holidays.

The position requires at least one year of forklift/warehouse experience and the ability to read orders, follow directions, and lift up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely operate forklift to transport products and load/unload trucks.
• Ability to read and understand sales orders, purchase orders and safety data.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars with minimal damage.
• Store and retrieve materials (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.

The fixed rate is XXXX per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
