Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join our distribution center. You will operate forklift equipment to load, unload, and store materials, prepare paperwork, and support inventory accuracy while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders and safety material
• Safe work record and stable work history
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform physical tasks

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with safety guidelines
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare distribution and shipping paperwork
• Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance
• Maintain cleanliness in working area
• Assist in periodic inventory counts

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history
