Job summary

BlueLinx seeks a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to join our team in Gulfport, MS. This role centers on safe forklift operation, material handling, and accurate paperwork for distribution.

You will maintain equipment, keep areas clean, and support inventory counts, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a fixed wage of $19.51 per hour plus benefits including health, dental, vision, life/disability insurance, PTO and holidays.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Able to safely operate forklifts and transport materials.
• Able to understand and follow directions.
• Capable of working independently under pressure.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Able to read sales/purchase orders and safety materials.
• Demonstrates a safe, stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift following training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store materials from trailers or rail cars with care.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily equipment inspection and maintenance.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do:

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For:

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history
