Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation seeks a Material Handler/Forklift Operator at our Shelburne distribution center to support our building and industrial products network. The role offers a fixed wage and a Monday–Friday schedule, with emphasis on safety.

You will operate forklifts, load/unload materials from trailers or rail cars, and maintain shipping paperwork while keeping an orderly workspace. A minimum of one year forklift/warehouse experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year or more forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely operate forklift to transport goods.
• Ability to read and understand sales orders and safety materials.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars with minimal damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and security guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history

The fixed rate is $24 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations. BlueLinx also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health care, dental, vision, life and disability insurance starting the first day of the month, 15 days of paid time off that start accruing your first day, and 8 paid holidays per year.
