Job summary

GLT Packaging is a Michigan-based manufacturer of corrugated packaging solutions. We are seeking a forklift operator to move materials, load/unload vehicles, and follow safety and inventory procedures.

The role requires attention to detail, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. This is a full-time position with benefits and opportunities for growth within our team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Good language and reading skills: basic computer skills may be required.
• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others: promote safe working environment.
• Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records.
• Complete assignments in an accurate, timely, and safe manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure.
• Occasionally lifting of up to 50 lbs. required.

Responsibilities

• Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to move materials safely.
• Transport material to and from designated areas inside the facility.
• Load and unload materials from trailers and other vehicles.
• Follow inventory, safety, and record-keeping procedures.
• Perform pre-shift equipment checks and report issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and assist with pallets.

Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts

Responsibilities:

• Obtain copy of production schedule or shipping schedule and transport material to and from designated areas inside facility
• Loading and unloading material from vehicles such as trailers, straight trucks, and vans
• Moving material around storage facility
• Stacking material in correct storage bays and following inventory control instructions
• Checking loads are secure
• Stacking empty pallets
• Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging truck’s battery and cleaning equipment
• Reporting issues to direct supervisor
