Job summary

Specialty Building Products in Kansas City, MO, is seeking a 1st shift Material Handler to unload, stock and organize warehouse materials. This position supports a fast-paced warehouse team in a Safety-first environment.

Responsibilities include forklift operation, scanning with handheld devices, and accurate loading for shipping while following OSHA policies. A High School Diploma and 1–2 years of warehouse experience are required; 7:30am start with potential overtime.

Description

Amerhart, an SBPBrand, is currently hiring for 1st shift Material Handlers to join our Values based organization in our Kansas City, MO branch to perform all duties associated with shipping, receiving, and stocking warehouse material. As a member of the Operations team, offering to help others when the workload demands, treating teammates with respect and care and performing work in a safe manner according to safety policies and procedures is critical.



  • 1st Shift hours are from 7:30am CST till work is finished for the day.

  • $22.00/hour pay rate + Benefits.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Unload common carrier trucks and railroad cars and replenish product in the designated location in the warehouse.

  • Pick orders using a forklift until the order is completely filled.

  • Report any problems such as shortages or damaged material, etc.

  • Inquire with sales team member when orders cannot be shipped as ordered and make changes as directed by sales.

  • Use handheld scanner when receiving product, picking orders, loading trucks and cycle counting in accordance with Warehouse Management System (WMS) processes.

  • Collaborate with Warehouse Management System (WMS) Coordinator on questions and updates.

  • Band, wrap and prepare material for safe shipping.

  • Arrange orders on trucks according to safe weight distribution practices.

  • Follow safety procedures and policies when performing warehouse duties.


Performance of Miscellaneous Functions


  • Fill orders for incoming customers.

  • Perform routine maintenance work such as cleaning warehouses/yard.

  • Inspect the forklift prior to daily operation to avoid equipment problems and malfunctions in accordance with OSHA regulations.

  • Cross train and back-up others in warehouse.

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma

  • 1-2 years warehouse experience required with some experience in a distributorship preferred.

  • Neat and clean appearance.

  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team.
