Job Description
Scrap Management of Oklahoma is looking for a Material Handler/Equipment Operator to join our growing team. This role requires the safe and expert operation of various heavy equipment to move, organize, stack, load, and unload scrap metal, both processed and unprocessed.
Requirements
- Operate heavy equipment safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Move and position raw materials and finished components using material handling equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment; maintain accurate records of inspections.
- Monitor and maintain all production equipment, including material handlers, wheel loaders, excavators with shear attachments, semi-tractors, rail car movers, skid steers, balers, shears, etc.
- Follow all safety procedures outlined by the company and OSHA.
- Report any equipment defects or repairs immediately to supervisors.
- Cross-train in other roles and assist colleagues as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment by removing debris and hazards.
- Follow instructions from the Shredder & Maintenance Superintendent.
- Identify and sort various scrap metal commodities accurately.
- Properly categorize and stack scrap metals safely.
- Attend all scheduled training sessions and meetings.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Minimum requirements include:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Expert knowledge of heavy equipment operation principles.
