Mission Contribution

To ensure the efficient and cost‑effective operation and stewardship of the E‑Commerce operation.

Summary

To perform a variety of material handling duties and responsibilities to ensure the consistent flow of materials in support of GIV’s E‑Commerce operation. Responsibilities vary, and material handlers may be assigned to assist E‑Commerce drivers, work within the warehouse, handle Autoline duties, and move materials utilizing hand and power equipment.

Essential Functions
  1. Load and unload trucks using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks; place containers of books and media in designated areas. Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and dock area.
  2. Accurately complete daily service requests, assist with ordering shipments, and manage inventory of supplies. Proactively plan for adequate inventory levels.
  3. Support Autoline and processing operations by ensuring a steady flow of materials and assisting with Autoline functions to maintain efficient and timely book and media processing.
  4. Purge inventory as directed by management, ensuring accurate picking, labeling, documentation, and recordkeeping. Meet productivity standards set by management.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized workstation; perform general housekeeping duties, remove trash, and operate compactor/auger using safe practices. Suggest enhancements to improve safety, processes, and workflow.
  6. Demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and a willingness to learn. Exhibit strong work habits including regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, dependability, and awareness of productivity and sales goals.
  7. Maintain a professional appearance and courteous behavior at all times; report unprofessional conduct, unsafe conditions, theft, or injuries to management immediately.
  8. Promote and maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  9. Attend all scheduled meetings, training sessions, and classes. Communicate progress, issues, and concerns to management in a timely and constructive manner.
  10. Provide support to the E‑Commerce operation as needed or directed. Adhere to all Goodwill policies and procedures.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic computer literacy or ability to learn inventory and logistics systems.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers and team members in E‑Commerce and Transportation.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude.
  • Sustain productivity in a fast‑paced, high‑volume retail, stockroom, or warehouse setting.
  • Adapt to frequent task switching and interruptions.
  • Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as required to meet organizational demands.
  • Maintain reliable and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Experience
  • Must be able to successfully complete any assigned Goodwill training within the required period upon employment.
  • Ability to complete and obtain a forklift certification administered by Goodwill.
Special Requirements
  • Having a cell phone is not required for employment, but access to applications and/or resources may be limited unless a cell phone is used for authentication.
  • Must successfully complete a state background investigation and drug screen.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift, carry, and move merchandise up to 40 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. occasionally; heavier items require team‑lifting.
  • Stand and walk for 6‑10 hours per shift on sales floor and warehouse surfaces.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead or at floor level to stock, retrieve, or organize products.
  • Push and pull carts, pallet jacks, or rolling equipment with up to 100‑300 lbs. of rolling weight.
  • Perform repetitive motions such as scanning, tagging, folding, sorting, or packing merchandise.
  • Climb short ladders or step stools to access shelving or storage areas.
  • Move quickly between retail floor, stockroom, and warehouse areas.
    Work Environment
    • Fluctuating temperatures, including sales floor, stockroom, and/or warehouse zones.
    • Exposure to moderately loud noise, moving equipment, and busy customer/donor/warehouse traffic.
    • Outdoor exposure at donation drop‑offs, loading docks, and/or trash compactors.
