Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Clayville, NY (RTX) is seeking a Material Handler to support efficient movement of materials on site. You will operate powered industrial vehicles, perform pre-operation inspections, and help with packing and delivery of materials, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

This full-time role follows a Mon-Thu 6:00am-4:00pm 4x10 schedule. Candidates must have a high school diploma, strong attendance, and good communication.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operation inspections of powered industrial vehicles (PIVs).
• Operate various PIVs to transport materials within the facility.

• Follow CORE guidelines and perform related duties as required.
• Adhere to EH&S guidelines and wear required PPE.
• Coordinate inbound/outbound material handling with other departments.
• Lift and transport materials up to 25 lbs.
• Support other tasks to meet department objectives.

What You Will Do

As a Material Handler, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient movement and handling of materials to support operational needs. You will work onsite, utilizing powered industrial vehicles (PIVs) and equipment to manage material flow and contribute to departmental objectives.

• Perform pre-operation inspections of powered industrial vehicles (PIVs) and other equipment.
• Operate various PIVs to transport materials within the facility.
• Support departmental needs by picking up scrap materials for reclamation, delivering supplies, and packaging materials for shipment.
• Carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position, to support department objectives and skill development.
• Adhere to CORE guidelines and perform CORE duties as required.
• Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to coordinate inbound and outbound material handling.
• Lift and transport materials weighing up to 25 lbs. independently.
• The position will work a schedule of Monday - Thursday (4x10) 6:00am - 4:00pm (6th shift).

• HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US)

• Experience performing pre-operation inspections of powered industrial vehicles (PIVs).
• Experience operating various PIVs to accomplish job functions.

• Must have strong mechanical aptitude
• The position requires ascending, descending stairs, standing for extended periods, bending, squatting, twisting, overhead reach, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

• Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is $21.00 per hour. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
