Job summary

Olympic Steel in Schaumburg, IL seeks a Material Handler to support production by moving WIP materials, staging finished goods, and loading trucks. You’ll also manage raw material receiving, prepare floor paperwork, and handle scrap parts using forklift and warehouse equipment.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or equivalent; forklift experience is preferred but not required, with basic math and a self-motivated, team-oriented approach.

  • Proper use and care of precision instruments.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work under general supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Move work-in-progress material on the production floor.
  • Staging of finished goods and truck loading.
  • Receive raw materials and prepare for production.
  • Prepare paperwork for materials on the floor.
  • Handle scrap parts and operate forklift and other warehouse equipment.

Description

The material handler is responsible for all job tasks required to support production processes. The material handler is responsible for all job tasks required to support production processes. These activities may include movement of work-in-progress material on the production floor, finished goods staging, truck loading, raw material receiving and raw material and finished goods preparation and management. As the material handler you will be in charge of certain administrative work, as well as preparing paperwork for materials on the floor. As the Material Handler you will be responsible for handling the scrap parts, while operating a forklift, using handheld plasma, and other warehouse equipment.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
