Job summary

Vaupell in Constantine, MI is hiring a Material Handler for the 2nd shift (3pm–11pm) to support the production department by supplying raw materials, components and packaging materials and by updating the ERP with inventory data.

Responsibilities include loading and unloading materials, moving items to storage, preparing items for lab analysis when needed, labeling, ensuring accurate inventory counts, and adhering to all safety procedures and company policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous material handling experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic math in all units.
  • Forklift certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license if site requires travel.
  • Ability to read, speak, understand and follow English instructions.
  • Must wear and use the required PPE.

Responsibilities

Position Purpose

To provide the production department with all the necessary raw materials, components, and packaging materials needed to maintain all scheduled jobs. Updates ERP with material information for inventory.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Load, unload, receive material and place into locations.
  • Remove materials from the floor when jobs are complete and at the end of shift.

Job Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Previous material handling experience preferred
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to obtain Forklift certification within 30 days.
  • Valid driver’s license, if applicable, for site location.
  • Ability to read, speak, understand and follow instructions in English.
  • Must be able to wear and properly use the required personal protective equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations. Physical Requirements

This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending at the waist, reaching above and below shoulder level, grasping, handling, finger dexterity, feeling, eye-hand coordination, eye-hand-foot coordination, pulling, ordinary hearing, near and far vision acuity, depth perception, color perception, and keyboarding. The employee must frequently lift, carry, and push items under 25 pounds; occasionally lift, carry, and push items weighing 25 to 50 pounds; and rarely lift, carry, or push items over 50 pounds. The position may also require occasional sitting, climbing stairs or ladders, balancing, kneeling, crawling, and turning or twisting.
