Job summary

Hillphoenix is seeking a Material Handler II – Paint in Richmond, VA to load/unload metal parts for the paint line and support daily production goals. The role emphasizes quality, safety, and teamwork across shifts.

You will identify parts using work orders, participate in training, and help maintain a zero-defect standard while promoting a safe workplace and efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills.
  • Must follow safety procedures and wear PPE correctly.
  • Ability to stand, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to work with colleagues across shifts to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Loading/unloading all metal parts required for daily fabrication at the paint line.
  • Complete daily activities in the work area to ensure daily production goals are met.
  • Assisting in the identification of parts and part descriptions using work order information.
  • Developing and maintaining the highest quality standard – zero defects.
  • Promoting and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Understanding all basic safety procedures and setting an example for proper use of safety equipment.
  • Completing and participating in all training to include manufacturing practices, quality practices, and safety procedures.
  • Communication of job status between shifts and continuation of work in progress.
  • Shifting gears to meet changing business requirements.
  • Helping establish continuous improvement processes to improve resource use, reduce costs, and improve quality.

What are the basic qualifications?
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum of 12 months experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, and/or kneel
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Be able to stand and walk for the majority of the work day

  • Must be able to work with machine operators, mechanics, contractors, drivers and/or vendors.
  • Occasional extended hours are required.
  • Must have a positive attitude.
