BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc. in Alabama is seeking a Material Handler 2 to operate forklifts, an overhead crane, and other equipment to receive, move, and stage materials.

The role involves moving raw materials and finished goods within plant, yard, or warehouse locations under general supervision. Responsibilities include accurate paperwork, scanning, and adherence to safety policies, with an emphasis on on-time order fulfillment and continuous improvement.

• Preferred: 1 year of experience operating mobile equipment in manufacturing/shipping; mobile equipment certification.

Responsabilidades

• Loads and unloads raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods onto or from pallets, racks, trailers, trucks.
• Transports materials to designated areas within storage, production, or yard.
• Participates in continuous improvement and corrective action activities.
• Completes all necessary paperwork and scanning requirements.
• Performs housekeeping and 5-S duties as assigned.

Summary of Primary Purpose of the Position

Under general supervision, the Material Handler 2 operates forklift, overhead crane or other mobile equipment to perform a variety of intermediate and complex activities such as receiving inventory, loading and unloading, as well as staging and moving raw materials and finished goods within or near plant, yard, warehouse or work site.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• In addition to complying with all safety, environmental, quality, and core policies, and contributing to the company’s Zero Harm and Zero Defects commitment, the following briefly describes the 3 to 6 primary activities (not all activities) that are regularly performed, and the approximate percentage of time annually devoted to each (equals 100%).
• 50% Loads and unloads raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods onto or from pallets, industrial racks, trailers, trucks, etc.
• 20% Transports materials from storage or production areas and places in designated area
• 10% Actively participates in continuous improvement and corrective action activities
• 15% Completes all necessary paperwork and transactions, including scanning requirements
• 5% Perform housekeeping, 5-S, and other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Qualifications

• Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent, or attain ACT WorkKeys Assessment at certified job profile skill level 6 months of related experience and/or training
• Preferred: 1 year of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing or shipping environment Mobile equipment certification
