Job description

Overview

PURPOSE: The Material Handler II reports directly to the Material Supervisor and utilizes knowledge of design build electrical industry materials to perform logistics tasks such as receiving, storing, and issuing materials, equipment, and other items from the M.C. Dean warehouse and from suppliers. The Material Handler II has a solid understanding of the Logistics Service Center processes and procedures and works on a wide variety of tasks, potentially assisting with problem-solving.

Responsibilities
  1. Receiving, verifying, and counting stock items, and maintaining appropriate records.
  2. Verifying inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts.
  3. Investigating discrepancies and reconciling errors.
  4. Packing and unpacking items for storage.
  5. Labeling stock items with identification tags, stamps, or electronic tools.
  6. Cleaning and maintaining supplies, tools, and storage areas to ensure safety compliance.
  7. Determining proper storage based on various factors.
  8. Storing items safely and accessibly in warehouses and storage areas.
  9. Inspecting stock for wear or damage and reporting issues.
  10. Maintaining records of stock usage and damage.
  11. Using internal software systems like Material Requisition, Equipment Transfer, and Procurement Mobile.
  12. Understanding and applying knowledge of the electrical industry and logistics processes within M.C. Dean.
  13. Training and mentoring less experienced staff when appropriate.
  14. Maintaining high productivity and meeting deadlines.
  15. Utilizing MS Excel reporting and tracking functions.
  16. Communicating professionally via MS Outlook.
  17. Assisting project staff as needed.
Qualifications

3-5 years of experience with a High School Diploma or 2-3 years with an Associate's Degree, proficiency in electrical industry materials, and logistics processes at M.C. Dean, including:

  1. Intermediate MS Excel and Outlook skills.
  2. Strong reporting, tracking, and accuracy skills.
  3. Ability to manage critical tasks independently, such as controlling programs, managing lay down areas, and loading/unloading zones.
Abilities
  1. Lifting at least 100 pounds at once and 60 pounds for extended periods.
  2. Relocating a 12-foot ladder without assistance.
  3. Working at heights up to 60 feet and climbing various equipment.
  4. Performing physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching.
  5. Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, hearing, and communication skills in English.
  6. Using standard ladders with tools safely.
  7. Recognizing problems or potential issues.
  8. Applying general rules to specific problems.
  9. Connecting information to form conclusions.
  10. Seeing details at close range.
  11. Understanding spoken information effectively.
