Job summary

MEC (Mayville Engineering Company, Inc.) seeks a dependable Material Handler to support production by coordinating material flow, pulling and delivering items, and maintaining accurate transactions. You will work across departments to meet schedules and assist during peak periods with material handling equipment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of related experience preferred, and basic math/computer skills. Forklift certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate material movement between departments per routing requirements.
• Sort questionable materials per Quality Control’s request.
• Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
• Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
• Ensure production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
• Assist during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
• Ensure good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
• Assist the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
• Monitor and enforce shop floor control systems.
• Follow all safety procedures, wear proper PPE.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
• Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
• Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
