Job summary

Harbor Steel seeks a hands-on Material Handler to pull, package, inspect, and prepare material for shipment. You’ll verify heat and tag numbers, stage orders, and operate crane, forklift or side-loader safely while maintaining a clean, safe workspace.

Preferred candidates have steel industry familiarity, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, read instructions, and work well within a team. Drug tests and management-assigned shifts are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, relevant training, or equivalent experience.
• Safety-minded and detail-oriented with strong teamwork.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Experience with steel or metal products is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Locate the correct material type, size, and quantity for customer orders.
• Package finished material according to customer specifications.
• Perform quality checks to verify that the correct items have been pulled.
• Inspect, band, and prepare parts for shipment.
• Verify heat numbers and tag numbers for accuracy.
• Stage completed material in the correct route-specific order.
• Operate material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow established procedures and written instructions.
• Work closely with warehouse and production teams to keep orders moving efficiently.

We are currently seeking a Material Handler to join our team.

The Opportunity

As a Material Handler, you’ll play an important role in making sure customer orders are accurately pulled, properly packaged, inspected, and ready for shipment.

This is a hands‑on position where attention to detail, safe equipment operation, and teamwork matter every day.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is safety‑minded, dependable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a hands‑on industrial environment.

• Knowledge of steel or metal products preferred
• Experience operating or certification to operate a crane, forklift, and side‑loader
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure, calipers, and micrometers
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
• High school diploma, relevant training, or equivalent experience
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
