Summary: The Material Handler - Shipping picks and processes customer orders and distribution centers accurately and on time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for processing customer orders and filling distribution centers
• Compiles, organizes, and prepares all orders as directed from the Shipping Supervisor
• Operates a handheld scanner to scan barcodes and delivers materials to their target location
• Operates forklift, lift truck, side loaders, pallet trucks, picker and other loading/stacking equipment
• Responsible daily inspection of forklifts
• Performs on-spot checking
• Maintains and organizes warehouse storage including pallet consolidation and cleanliness of aisles
• Promote a safe workplace by performing all tasks in a safe and thoughtful manner in compliance with all rules, procedures, instructions, devices, equipment and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Maintain vigilance for any hazardous conditions or practices in the workplace and immediately report any unsafe condition or practice to your supervisor.

• Knowledge of operating lift trucks, side loaders, pallet trucks, and other loading/stacking equipment
• Solid understanding of mathematics
• Proficient in the Warehouse Management System

Work Environment:

• The physical environment requires the employee to work in a non-climate controlled warehouse.
• Frequently required to work at heights of 20 feet or more.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basis
• The person in this position needs to wear appropriate safety clothing and shoes when needed. This includes a need for a safety harness, safety glasses, lift belts, steel toe shoes, etc.
• Ability to safely drive a forklift and operate lift trucks, side loaders, pickers, pallet trucks, and other loading/stacking equipment
• Must be able to stand for most of the day which equates to 90% of the time
• Occasionally will be expected to lift large material not to exceed 75 pounds

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma
• 1 + years in Material Handling, Warehouse and/or Related Field
