Job summary

AdvanSix in Virginia is seeking a Material Handler to perform loading, warehousing, and shipping duties across tankers, boxes, sacks, and bulk containers using both manual and mechanical methods.

The role follows AdvanSix OS principles and safety standards, with training opportunities and a path to growth through continuous improvement initiatives. A forklift license is required or pursued on the job.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma/GED.
• Must be willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating shift environment that includes holidays, weekends, and required overtime.
• Proficiency with a computer, including programs such as Word and Excel.
• Must be able to complete a background check and drug test successfully.
• Must have strong communication skills.
• Must be willing and able to work in a team environment.
• Must meet minimum physical requirements needed to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be able to safely wear, utilize, and operate all required personal protective equipment (PPE) according to manufacturer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Loading, warehousing, and shipping of tankers, boxes, sacks and overseas bulk containers by using various processes (manual and mechanical).
• Participate in AdvanSix OS (Operating System) principles, i.e. Standard Work, 5S, Continuous Improvement, etc.
• Obtain a fork lift license.
• Participate in scheduled and unscheduled outages.
• Train unqualified Material Handlers.
• Additional responsibilities as needed.
