Job summary

Sonoco is seeking a Material Handler for the West Chester, OH area to operate and maintain heavy machinery in a safe, precise manner. The role supports production flow by strapping pallets, inspecting quality, and ensuring on-floor documentation is complete.

The candidate should have experience handling raw materials in manufacturing and forklift operation, with the ability to follow supervision and work with minimal guidance on routine tasks.

Responsibilities

• Strap pallets: 2 way or 4 way depending on the costumer location, using the right dunnage.
• Quality inspection- Be able to check specs on sample provided using measuring tape.
• Make sure that all documentation from the floor is completed and in the plastic envelope.
• Move strips and finished goods to help with the flow of production.
• Use the wrapping machine and replace wrapping roll.
• Strap pallets using conventional way, hand wrapping if needed.
• Use the buddy check system to assist when loading trucks.
• Inspect incoming board/rolls and make sure flute/caliper and sizes match purchase order.
• Help with miscellaneous assignments and general labor.
• Perform tasks as assigned by supervision.

Position:Material Handler
Location: West Chester, OH
Wage:$28.04 - ($0.75 shift differential for 2nd shift)
Shift: 2nd (2:45pm-11:00pm)

While reporting to the Shift Supervisor, as a Material Handler you will be responsible for the safe and precise operation of heavy machinery and material handling.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Quality inspection- Be able to check specs on sample provided using measuring tape.

• Make sure that all documentation from the floor is completed and in the plastic envelope.

• You have previous experience handling raw materials in a manufacturing setting and previous experience as a Forklift Driver.

• Can safely handle all products and materials.

• Can perform work under minimal supervision and handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.

• Possess comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.

• Can act as a lead and provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
