Job summary

Sonoco Jefferson, TX is seeking a Material Handler on First Shift, M-F with occasional OT. Pay rate $20.98 per hour.

You will move raw materials and wood reels, work with production, shipping, and inventory to ensure materials are delivered safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include loading/unloading with forklifts, ensuring accurate documentation, maintaining 5S standards, and inspecting equipment daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations a plus.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for at least 8 hours.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport wood components and finished reels using forklifts and other equipment.
• Collaborate with production team members to facilitate product/material flow and achieve critical line metrics.
• Assist the plant in various areas.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and department, as well as 5S standards.
• Ensure accurate documentation of quantities loaded or unloaded.
• Execute all tasks safely and efficiently.
• Conduct a daily inspection of the material handling equipment.

While reporting to the Team Lead as a Material Handler, you’ll play a key role in the movement and organization of raw materials and finished wood reels throughout the facility. You’ll work closely with production, shipping, and inventory teams to ensure materials are delivered efficiently and safely.

• You should be able to read and comprehend manufacturing instructions.
• You’ll be required to work overtime when necessary.
