Job summary

Miller Industries, Inc. is seeking a dependable Shipping/Receiving Clerk to verify, package, and ship materials at our Tennessee facility.

You will ensure accurate records, label and prepare shipments, operate basic warehouse equipment, and coordinate with internal departments to maintain timely delivery. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 months related experience, and solid data entry skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1–3 months related experience preferred.
• Must have intermediate data entry skills.
• Ability to operate basic shipping software and document handling.

Responsibilities

• Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, or orders.
• Determine method of shipment and select packing containers.
• Affix shipping labels and stencils with identifying information.
• Assemble containers and insert items securely for shipment.
• Move shipments using tier lift or handtrucks and route items to relevant departments.
• Unpack, inspect, and address damaged items; communicate with shippers as needed.
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies and ensure accuracy of shipping records.

Summary:

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determines method of shipment.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
• Inserts items into containers.
• Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Routes items to departments.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operates tier lift truck or uses handtruck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have intermediate data entry skills.

Beginning on 91 st day one of employment unless stated otherwise
