Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description:

Accurately locate and deliver materials, supplies, and finished goods to fabrication or assembly areas in a timely manner to assure that production activities are not interrupted in the work cells and assembly lines.

Essential Functions and Activities:

  • Accurately locate and deliver materials, supplies, and finished goods to fabrication or assembly areas in a timely manner to assure that production activities are not interrupted in the work cells and assembly lines.
  • Reads and interprets work orders, bills of material, or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved and to what locations.
  • Transports materials to or from storage areas or work locations to designated areas using hand trucks, electric tugs, material carts, forklifts, etc.
  • Opens containers of purchased products, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, carts, and shelves by hand.
  • Verifies that materials loaded and delivered are correct.
  • Reports material discrepancies and/or shortages.
  • Operates gas or electric-powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices.
  • Supports and participates in Morgan Olson’s PPS team efforts.
  • Adheres to Quality policy by exceeding customer expectations, being customer-focused and supporting continuous improvement activities.
  • Adheres to Safety policies and practices behavioral based safety 100% of the time.
  • Responsible for proper handling of hazardous waste.
  • Other duties as required.

Physical Requirements/Hazards:

  • Job requires extensive standing, lifting, reaching, twisting, and turning to fabricate parts. Lifting will involve material weighing anywhere from several pounds to 50 pounds.
  • PPE: Steel toed safety shoes, Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection is always required. Other PPE such as gloves, safety goggles, respirators, etc. may be required depending upon the task at hand.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of material handling experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, bills of material and work orders
  • Must possess a high degree of accuracy and sense of urgency
  • Basic Computer knowledge
  • May require forklift certification
