Job summary

Mermet, part of the Hunter Douglas family, is seeking a Material Handler to support production and distribution. This night-shift role involves pulling orders, delivering materials, and preparing stock for shipment using RF devices and standard material-handling equipment.

The ideal candidate has a GED or high school diploma, 1+ year of material handling experience, and strong organizational skills. Forklift license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • RF experience and at least 1 year as Material Handler.
  • Forklift license preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory by labeling and locating materials in stock.
  • Pull and verify materials for production orders.
  • Deliver materials to work centers and open stock as needed.
  • Record units delivered and locations for traceability.
  • Receive credit-return materials and verify codes and quantities.
  • Prepare finished stock for shipment: pack, crate, load.
  • Document shipments and update inventory records.
  • Operate and inspect material-handling equipment; perform repairs as needed.
  • It is essential that 85% of time is spent at a workstation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

The Material Handler position is a non-exempt position responsible for maintaining production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory and receiving/delivering production materials.

What you’ll do

Hours of work –This is a Night Shift position with 12-hour shifts from 8pm to 4am. The normal work hours for this position are 12 hour rotating shifts. Overtime might be required. The essential functions of this position may include any or all of the following, to be performed alone, or with assistance from others:

  • Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock and recording the location of inventory.
  • Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
  • Maintains in process inventory at work centers by delivery and opening materials and supplies.
  • Documents materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
  • Receives credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supplies code and lot number and quantity, then placing materials in stock.
  • Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading and securing product.
  • Documents Product Shipment by recording units shipped.
  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs.
  • It is essential that the Material Handler spend 85% of his/her time at a workstation to perform the job.
  • All other duties as assigned
Who you are
  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Forklift License Preferred
  • One of more years’ experience as a Material Handler, with RF experience
  • Ability to read, write, and understand the English language
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Problem solving ability
  • Ability to work in a team environment and solicit the assistance of other personnel
  • Ability to work and keep pace in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be detail-oriented and pay close attention to accuracy
  • Compliance with Hunter Douglas and Mermet policies and codes of conduct.
