MANOR TOOL & MANUFACTURING

Material Handler

Production

  • 1st Shift
  • Full-Time
  • Schiller Park, IL

Keep the floor moving. Heavy material, careful handling, a team that’s done it right for 65 years.

For more than 65 years, Manor Tool & Manufacturing has built a reputation for precision, craftsmanship, and doing the job right the first time. We’re a family-owned shop where the people on the floor keep everything moving. We’re hiring a self-motivated Material Handler to join our Production team.

This is a great fit if you’re reliable, mechanically inclined, and take pride in keeping material organized and production fed.

Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • A stable, family-owned company with deep roots and a 65+ year track record - no layoffs-and-rehire churn.
  • We train you to certify on fork trucks and to safely run our coil-moving equipment.
  • A clear, hands-on role where your work keeps the whole production floor running.
  • A team that invests in its people and supports you in growing your skills.
  • A predictable first-shift schedule - home for dinner.
What You’ll Do
  • Load and unload raw materials - including steel coils over 5,000 lbs and sheet stock - into equipment such as powered de-reelers and coil cradles.
  • Straighten and center coil lines when required.
  • Unload trucks, receive material certifications, and move raw material to the correct warehouse area.
  • Inspect coils and sheets for SPC compliance - refuse non-conforming deliveries and report them to the right personnel.
  • Move steel coils and sheets from storage to the assigned production machine as needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all raw material on the production floor.
  • Complete all paperwork, move tickets, and data-collection entries accurately and on time.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions and keep your work area clean and organized.
  • Take an active part in our safety initiatives.
What You Bring
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a safety-first mindset.
  • Ability to read lot numbers, shipping orders, and packing slips.
  • Basic computer and data-collection skills.
  • Comfort using measuring devices and gages, including the calibration process.
  • Willingness and ability to certify on fork trucks and learn our coil-moving equipment - we’ll train you.
  • Basic English reading and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to pass our company ISO, English, Safety, and Math assessments.
Nice to Have
  • Prior warehouse or material-handling experience.
  • A current forklift certification.
  • Experience with coil-handling equipment such as de-reelers and coil cradles.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • A hands-on shop role: standing, walking, and using your hands throughout the workday, with regular bending, stooping, or twisting.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds, and to work safely around heavy material.
  • Vision of 20/20 (with or without correction) and the ability to communicate clearly on the floor.
  • Stamina to work all assigned hours, including overtime as needed.
  • Comfort in a shop environment with ongoing exposure to metalworking machinery, loud noise, dust, mist, oils, and solvents.
