Valmont Industries is seeking a reliable Material Handler to support shipping and receiving operations in Plymouth, Indiana. You will load/unload products, inspect items, and prepare all necessary paperwork, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

Work with other shipping team members to load and unload product from a flatbed truck. Inspect all incoming and outgoing product to verify that it is finished, damage free, and that all product listed on the order is loaded. Work with other shipping personnel requiring assistance. Provide timely feedback to the lead and/or supervisor regarding product issues, driver issues, or any event that would create a safety concern or delivery delay. Follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations Participate in all department meetings as needed. Sort, count and inspect materials and products as requested. Prepare/audit necessary paperwork, packing lists, receiving reports and bills of lading. Prepare receiving report on incoming material for inventory stock and delivers material into designated area. Count and pack a variety of small and medium component parts or products in cardboard or wooden boxes and other containers for shipment. Check against packing lists for inclusion of all parts. Apply special labels or stencils as necessary. Load and unload company vehicles manually, by hand truck, or forklift for distribution and pick up inter-company supplies, products, and parts. Operate company vehicles for distribution of company products between departments, following routing and delivery. Receive, check, and count a wide variety of incoming inventories from suppliers to stock by computer entry. Match purchase order to packing list. Fill out proper receiving reports. Count and pack component parts for U.P.S. and/or Federal Express. Operate U.P.S. and Federal Express machines and complete appropriate manifests for shipments. Comply with Company’s attendance policy. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Perform other essential functions as required or directed.

Education/Knowledge/Experience: Requires the use of shop mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions, at a level generally associated with a high school diploma or GED. A minimum of 2 years previous experience in material handling required.

Complexity of duties: Requires the use of some judgment to comply with instructions and standard procedures, involving making minor decisions.

Physical Demand: Medium physical effort consisting of continually lifting or moving material weighing up to 40 pounds.

Working Conditions/Hazards: Outside Environment. Exposed to all weather conditions. Potential hazards would be minor cuts, bruises, and strains while bending and stooping in conjunction with material handling.
