Job summary

RectorSeal is seeking an experienced Material Handler to operate sit-down and reach forklifts at our Palm Coast, FL facility. This on-site role supports production schedules, inventory accuracy, and material flow within the warehouse and manufacturing environment.

You will load and unload, inspect incoming materials, and transport items to storage or production areas while following safety guidelines and company procedures. Overtime may occur during peak periods.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or 6 months manufacturing/distribution experience in lieu of education.
  • Able to work 8–12 hour shifts standing.
  • Read and write English to carry out instructions.
  • Forklift experience preferred in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move materials.
  • Load/unload trucks and secure loads to prevent damage.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against orders.
  • Move materials to storage locations and support inventory accuracy.
  • Assist in inventory counts and audits and update records.

Description

Overview:

RectorSeal is seeking an experienced Material Handler to operate both sit down and reach forklifts at our Palm Coast, FL facility. The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and safe movement of materials within a warehouse or manufacturing facility. This role involves operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, and ensuring that materials are handled and stored according to established procedures and safety guidelines. The Material Handler works closely with other team members to support production schedules, fulfill orders, and maintain inventory accuracy.

This is an on-site hourly position. Workdays and hours are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overtime may be required to meet business demands. Additional work hours will be assigned during peak times and year-end.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, to move materials to and from storage areas, production lines, and shipping docks.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and other vehicles, ensuring that materials are properly secured and handled to prevent damage.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders or packing slips, reporting any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel.
  • Transport materials to designated storage locations, ensuring proper placement and organization to facilitate efficient retrieval and inventory management.
  • Retrieve materials from storage areas as requested by production personnel or order pickers, ensuring timely delivery to designated locations.
  • Assist in inventory counts and audits, reconciling discrepancies and updating inventory records as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including storage racks, aisles, and loading docks, to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and guidelines when operating material handling equipment and handling materials, including proper lifting techniques and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments to coordinate material movements and support production schedules.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in material handling operations, including streamlining workflows, reducing waste, and optimizing inventory management practices.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance job skills and knowledge of material handling equipment and procedures.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including attendance, punctuality, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management to support the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

Required Experience

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent or 6 months experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment in lieu of education
  • Able to work 8 -12-hour shifts standing
  • Available to work any shift and/or overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to read and write (English) to carry out and/or deliver detailed instructions.

Preferred Experience:

  • Forklift experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, environment, or equipment.
  • Explore methods of possible improvement in safety, efficiency, and/or productivity
  • Able to collaborate in a team setting
  • Basic computer skills to function in job role
  • Able to read Material Safety Data Sheets as well as raw material and finished goods container labels and understand directives
  • Basic math skills to function in the role
  • Willingness to comply and support safety standards

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position requires computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
