The Royal Group (TRG) currently has a position open for a Material Handler in Marion, Ohio. Material Handler drives industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move units throughout the plant. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Must obtain a forklift license.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets and units.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Checks load tag and scans units for quantity check.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto and of off pallets, skids, or lifting device.
  • Must adhere to all plant safety rules in an effort to supply a safe work environment.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED; plus three (3) to five (5) years related experience desirable

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use a tape measure; and to use a computer. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees of the organization. Ability to write simple correspondence.

REASONABLE ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand 30% of shift.
  • Walk 30% of shift; required to sit for 80% of the shift.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms during entire shift.
  • Must twist and/or use upper body for 30% of shift.
  • The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25lbs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
