Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking a Material Handler to manage daily product flow, verify shipments, and maintain inventory accuracy. You will prepare bills of lading, assist with loading/unloading, inspect items for damage, and keep warehouse records organized and safe.

Reporting to the Material Manager, you will contribute to on-time delivery and process improvements while adhering to safety standards and company policies in a manufacturing plant environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • 2–3 years of warehouse experience preferred.
  • Forklift operator's license is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and efficient work pace.
  • Team player with self-motivation and reliability.
  • Class 1 driver’s license an asset.
  • Experience with standard computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks using a forklift or overhead crane.
  • Optimize warehouse space and place items in designated locations.
  • Receive goods and verify against PO and delivery notes.
  • Inform warehouse manager of receiving discrepancies.
  • Palletize and pack parts for shipment following instructions.
  • Wrap air handling units for shipment.
  • Load ventilation units onto a flatbed with an overhead crane.

How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary)

As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in managing the daily flow of product by verifying, packing, and recording incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring inventory accuracy and on time delivery.

Reporting into the Material Manager, this position is also responsible for preparing bills for lading, loading/unloading trucks, inspecting items for damage, and maintaining organized, safe warehouse records.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Load and unload trucks using a forklift or overhead crane
  • Ensure optimal use of warehouse space and place merchandise in designated locations
  • Receive goods and verify their accuracy against purchase orders and delivery notes
  • Inform the warehouse manager of any discrepancies between the receiving slip and the purchase order
  • Palletize and pack parts and air handling units for shipment, ensuring adherence to shipping instructions
  • Wrap air handling units using plastic film
  • Load ventilation units onto a flatbed truck using an overhead crane
What We Are Looking For (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

Required Experience & Skills
  • High school diploma
  • 2 to 3 years of warehouse experience
  • Valid forklift operator's license, an asset
  • Strong organizational skills, methodical approach, and ability to work quickly and efficiently
  • Responsible, self-motivated, and a good team player
  • Valid Class 1 driver's license, an asset
  • Knowledge and practical experience with standard computer applications
  • Good physical ability to lift heavy objects
  • Crane Safety knowledge/experience helpful

  • Plant environment with potential exposure to all types of weather, including excessive heat, excessive cold, and excessive noise
