Job summary

TAIT is seeking a Material Handler to support goods in and goods out. The role requires operating forklifts and an overhead crane, with loads under 5 tons and under 30 feet.

You will help with traceability, storage, and outbound shipping while maintaining safety and efficiency across the facility. Ideal candidates will have forklift and overhead crane experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Position Purpose

A Material Handler will assist with goods in and goods out of TAIT facilities. This position will require the safe operation of both forklift and overhead crane routinely moving loads under 5ton and less than 30 foot in length. They will help support the demands of the operation with minimal guidance. It is a requirement of the position to obtain and maintain clearance to operate both forklifts and cranes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Preform daily crane and forklift safety inspections
• Ensure daily refuse route is clear
• Unloading of material delivery trucks utilizing forklifts and overhead crane
• Marking all inbound materials with identifying information for traceability
• Relocating and storing inbound materials throughout the operation
• Removing remnant materials to the proper area for vendor pick up
• Assisting with loading outgoing product or raw materials
• Assist or preform daily inventory cycle counts
• Understanding of manufacturing process and the materials produced in department to support process.
• Perform tasks to company standards and meet department goals.
• Take initiative to improve methodology and find solutions to boost productivity.
• Communicate with management.
• Manage priorities as they change throughout a shift. Complete allocated work in a timely manner.
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including rigging, tools, and equipment.
• Assist other departments as needed
• Organize and manage raw material areas; Warehouse, Shed, Material racks, Overstock areas.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous experience working with forklifts.
• Previous experience working with overhead cranes.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Epicor, Slack, and/or Box, a plus.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Capacity to work independently, and as a member of a small team.
• Ability to handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility with work schedule.

Work conditions of the role are:

• Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to being outdoors for short periods of time, with exposures to different temperatures and inclement weather.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
• Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location.
