Job summary

Specialty Building Products is seeking a Material Handler for outdoor first shift (M-F, 6:30am–3:30pm) in Gary, IN. The role supports unloading/loading, labeling, and order preparation with RF scanning, plus equipment operation and safety practices.

Qualified candidates will have at least 1 year warehouse experience, be able to lift heavy items, and work in a dynamic outdoor environment. SBP offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year warehouse distribution experience.
• Ability to operate RF scanner and hand tools as needed.
• Physically capable of loading/unloading and moving products.

Responsibilities

• Unload product from trucks and move to staging areas.
• Tag and label new product with bar codes when required.
• Move product from dock to warehouse locations using RF scanner.
• Pull merchandise for delivery prep and transfers with RF scanner.
• Inspect products during delivery and transfer processes.
• Assemble product as needed and stage for delivery.
• Safely handle and relocate returned items.

Job description

U.S. Lumber, an SBP Brand, is currently looking for a Material Handler to join our team to perform manual labor duties in loading and unloading merchandise and materials onto and off trucks. The majority of this position will be outdoors. This is a first shift position, M-F 6:30am to 3:30pm, OT as needed.

In this role you will focus on:

• Unload product from LTL trucks.
• Tag new product with Bar Code labels when required.
• Move product from dock to warehouse aisle locations with an RF scanner.
• Pull merchandise from aisle locations during the delivery prep and transfer process using an RF scanner.
• Open and inspects product during the delivery and transfer process.
• Assemble product as required
• Stage the product for delivery.
• Protect and moves product returns in a safe manner to the proper aisle location.
• Dispose of factory packaging as required.
• Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, hand tools, and Forklifts.
